This is a mid-20th century Japanese export porcelain bowl, decorated in Hong Kong and marked accordingly. A small porcelain bowl with a flared rim and deep sides, featuring a rich coral red ground and hand-painted floral and insect motifs in pastel enamels. The interior and exterior surfaces are adorned with lush peony blossoms, leaves, and flying insects in green, lavender, yellow, and blue enamels, characteristic of decorative wares made for export during the mid-20th century. The porcelain was produced by the company EFF, active during the post-WWII export boom when such collaborations were common to meet Wthe estern demand for colourful “Oriental-style” tableware and decorative objects.
